The TreeWater Initiative provides programs and opportunities for individuals in service to the communities and countries in which they live and work. We empower individuals through economic, environmental, cultural, and educational initiatives to build financial resources, environmental stewardship, and broad cultural relationships and understanding.

Jeannie Amash

Founder & Executive Director

Jeannie Amash is an American born daughter of a Palestinian refugee, Dr. Paul J. Amash. After his death in 2016, she went back to Palestine to understand the events that had shaped his life. She fell in love with Palestine and her people. Having led multiple lives as a stay at home mom, dancer, teacher, esthetician and product formulator, tree hugging organic gardener, and writer, she now is founder and executive director of The TreeWater Initative. She is dedicated to telling the true story of the beauty, tenacity,and intelligence of Palestinians using tree planting as one of the mediums. Please visit her blog at www.dancewildly.com

Roland Bennett

Roland Bennett

President

Roland Bennett, PhD candidate at the Colorado school of Mines, is a dedicated champion for truth in Palestine. Raised by the daughter, and as the grandson, of a Palestinian refugee, his life has been profoundly influenced by the play of politics his entire life. After Oct 7, 2023, he became a self-taught student of the history and politics of the Palestinian dilemma. While completing his PhD in Materials Science, he read countless books, hosted movie screenings, lectures, zoom calls with people in Gaza and the West Bank, and in general helped to educate hundreds of individuals about Palestine. With a keen understanding of how the Zionist propaganda machine operates, he has continued to foster his years long friendships with his Jewish, Muslim, and Christian friends, often co creating and lecturing together. His fundraising efforts have helped to support families Gaza and the West Bank.

Michael Leonardi

Michael Leonardi

Vice President

Michael Leonardi is a longtime organiser, writer and activist addressing social justice and ecological justice issues since his time as a student activist in the early 1990s. He has been engaged in Palestinian solidarity work since 1990 when, in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, he helped lead the opposition to the US’s first war on Iraq. Michael was a student leader of the Student Environmental Action Coalition, a youth coordinator and early organiser of the Green Party in the United States, served as a steering committee member of the US Citizens for Peace and Justice in Roma, Italy in the early 2000s, and was a lead organiser of the Coalition Against Nuclear Power in the United States. He was a cofounder of the Black Lives Matter Movement in Toledo, Ohio and has been consistently engaged on a breadth of issues wherever he has lived. As a dual Italian/American citizen Michael now lives and makes his home in Italy where he works as an ESL educator for students of all ages. He holds a Master’s degree in Education.
